Al Sweigart's Endorsements for PSF Board 2026

The nominees for the Python Software Foundation's Board of Directors 2026 election have been announced. You can find a full list on the nominees page. I've gon through the candidate list and have chosen to endorse folks based on their organizational experience, list of nominations, history of contributions, and consulting with other members of the Python community. I'm pleased to announce I'm endorsing the following nominees for PSF Board: Calvin Tsang, Cecilia Tivir, Christopher Neugebauer, Ee Durbin, Elaine Wong, Georgi Ker, Jeremy Tanner, Karo Ladino-Puerto, Keith Murray, Kojo Idrissa, Laís Carvalho, Nina Zakharenko Also this year is the inaugural Python Packaging Council election. I'm please to announce I'm endorsing the following nominees for PPC: Bernat Gabor, Brett Cannon, Donald Stufft, Henry Schreiner, Pradyun Gedam, Ralf Gommers, William Woodruff
You can become a member of the PSF. If you wish to vote in this year's election, you must have affirm your intention to vote (if you voted last year, you are automatically affirmed). This year's Board Election vote begins Tuesday, September 2nd, 2:00 pm UTC, and closes on Tuesday, September 16th, 2:00 pm UTC. The PPC has 5 seats open for this election.
This year there are 4 seats open on the PSF Board. Cheuk Ting Ho, Christopher Neugebauer, Denny Perez, and Georgi Ker are at the end of their current terms. You can see who is currently on the board on the PSF Officers & Directors page.

Calvin Tsang
Tsang was conference chair for PyCon Hong Kong and been a contributor to that conference since 2015. They have a long list of nominations.

Cecilia Tivir
Cecilia has a history of contributions for PyCons in Africa and nomination from another Python member. She is a recipient of the Outstanding PyLady Award. Her work with Humble Data demonstrates her commitment to the community.

Christopher Neugebauer
Christopher has been on the board from 2018 to 2026 and has a clear vision for the board going into the future. I personally know him and he has my full confidence.

Ee Durbin
Ee has had years of experience as on the PSF staff and years before that as a volunteer. They have nominations from several heavy hitters in the Python community. I personally know them and they have my full confidence.

Elaine Wong
Elaine has been chair and co-chair of PyCon US along with being an organizer for several other Python conferences. She is a PSF Community Service Award recipient. I personally know her and she has my full confidence.

Georgi Ker
Georgi has been on the board in the past for four years including as Treasurer and Vice-Chair. She is a PSF Community Service Award recipient. She has a couple of nominations. I know Georgi through PyCon and she has my full confidence.

Jeremy Tanner
Jeremy has several nominations and has been contributing to Python for many years. I forget which conference I met him and when; he's been a fixture in the Python community for a long time. I personally know him and he has my full confidence.

Karo Ladino-Puerto
Ladino-Puerto is a PSF Fellow and has long history with Python groups and conferences in South America. She has a couple nominations and has a long history with the Python community.

Keith Murray
Keith has a long history with Python and volunteering with PyCon conferences and the online Python Discord forum. I forget the first conference I met him at (I see him at various ones often), but I personally know him he has my full confidence. He has an additional nomination from a current PSF board director.

Kojo Idrissa
Kojo has a ton of organizational experience in the Python and Django communities. He has nominations from previous and current PSF board members. He is a recipient of both the PSF Community Service Award and is a PSF Fellow. I personally know him and he has my full confidence.

Laís Carvalho
Carvalho has received a PSF Community Service Award and is a PSF Fellow. They have a long history of PyCon organizing and was on the board of EuroPython. They have a long list of endorsements from Python heavy hitters, and I highly recommend them.

Nina Zakharenko
Nina has previously served on the board from 2020 to 2023. She's been a PyCascades co-chair and has long history of involvement with PyCon and the Python community. I personally know her and she has my full confidence.

Bernat Gabor
Bernat has a long history of contributions to Python and the packaging side of Python. I know him personally and he has my full confidence.

Brett Cannon
I endorse Brett Cannon for the Python Packaging Council. Brett is immensely qualified for the position; his contributions to the Python community are measured not in years but decades. He was made a PSF Fellow in 2003 and received the PSF Community Service Award in 2008. His nomination statement shows that he has a long history of contribution to Python packaging and clear vision for the future. He has not only my nomination, but my full confidence as well.

Donald Stufft
For many years, Stufft was PyPI. He probably has the longest history of involvement with Python packaging over anyone else. Full confidence. Vote for Donald Stufft.

Schreiner has a long history with Python packaging and has my full confidence.

Pradyun Gedam
Gedam has a large history with Python, is a PyPA member and CPython core dev. He has a lengthy list of nominations and is the editor of the Python Packaging User Guide. He is also a PSF Fellow.

Gommers has years of service on the NumFOCUS Board of Directors and a nomination from a current PSF board member. He has my full confidence.

William Woodruff
Woodruff works at Astral on uv's security features and is currently a member of the PyPA and one of PyPI's maintainers. They have a decade of experience with the Python Community.
